Club Rules



WOODSTOCK PROBUS CLUB RULES
  1. The name of the Club shall be Woodstock Probus Club.

  2. The object of the Club shall be the promotion of good fellowship.

  3. The Club shall be non-political and non-sectarian.

  4. Membership shall be confined to retired and semi-retired professional and businessmen. The categories of membership are:
        (i) Members: Not to exceed sixty five.
        (ii) Honorary Member: Awarded by the Committee to a member who has performed long and outstanding service to the Club.
        (iii) Life Member: Nominated by the Committee to a Member experiencing difficulty in attending meetings. Significant consideration     being given to age and years of membership. 75% of the Committee must agree
        (iv) Associate Member: Awarded by the Committee to a Non-member who performs a regular and valuable service to the Club.

  5. Applications for membership shall be proposed and seconded by two existing Members and acceptance shall be at the discretion of the Committee.

  6. The Annual Membership Subscription of the Club shall be proposed by the General Committee and approved at the next Annual General Meeting of the Club. All subscriptions shall be due on 1st January and any member whose subscription remains unpaid after the February meeting of the Club may be suspended by the General Committee. New members joining the Club will pay a pro-rata subscription.

  7. The financial year end of the Club will be 31st December. Accounts made up to that date will be audited and submitted by the Treasurer for approval at the next Annual General Meeting of the Club to be held before the end of May.

  8. (i) The Officers of the Club shall consist of a President, Vice President, Immediate Past-President, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Social Secretary and Speaker-Secretary, who, with the exception of the Immediate Past President, shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
        (ii) There shall be a Committee of the Club which shall consist of the Officers of the Club and five other members who shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
        (iii) The term of office of elected members shall be for three years, two retiring each year by rotation. The two retiring members will not be eligible for re-election for three years.  
        (iv) Casual vacancies may be filled by the Committee by co-option until the following Annual General Meeting.
        (v) All officers willing to serve for a further term of office shall be eligible for re-election.

  9.  A minimum number of five Committee Members shall be present at a committee meeting to constitute a quorum.

  10.  In the event of the Club ceasing to exist for whatever reason, the net assets must be donated to charitable or worthy local causes to be agreed by a majority of Members.

  11. Any alteration to these Rules shall be subject to due notice and approved by a majority of Members at a General Meeting.
